On the favorites list – part II

Compiled at The BrainBangers Ball

Do you have a website that saves you time, gives you a chuckle or helps you share information with like-minded people? This month, we’ll focus on Sites for Sharing.

  • dopplr.com - Dopplr lets you share your travel plans privately with a group of friends and colleagues whom you have chosen. It then tells you when people you know will be in the same cities. It also reminds you of people who live in the places you’re planning to visit.
  • ffffound.com - This lets you post and share your favorite images found on the Web and dynamically recommends each user's tastes and interests for an inspirational image-bookmarking experience.
  • joost.com - It is a new way to watch TV – it’s online and on demand. With more than 28,000 shows and close to 500 channels, you can’t really say that there’s nothing on!
  • jazz-on-line.com - Vintage Jazz music. Listen for free to more than 19,000 songs or get three months of unlimited downloads for $5!
  • associatedcontent.com - Associated Content is a platform that enables anyone to publish their content in any format on any topic (similar to Wiki) and then distributes it to engaged audiences through the website and content partners.
  • stylehive.com - Stylehive is an online style club for people who live for fashion, design and shopping. It's where you meet your style muses and follow them as they discover and share their latest finds.

I prefer TripIt (www.tripit.com) to Dopplr because it handles emailed itineraries much better than Dopplr.

Evernote (www.evernote.com) is another great site for capturing all your notes, scanned or typed, scanned notes are automatically OCRed to make them searchable. They also have a handy iPhone app to take voice, photo or typed notes on the move.

Dropbox (www.getdropbox.com) is hands down the best application for sharing files between agency/client or colleagues. When you save the file it automatically updates it on your client or colleagues computer.

Brian,

Thanks for the tips -- and thanks for continuing to be a fan of The Phelps Group after all these years. A free lunch awaits you next time you're in the area.
