  • How reliant is your brand on your leader's reputation?

    Dec 08 2004
"Despite the size of modern corporations, the person in charge sets the tone, defines the style and becomes the company's face," says Fortune magazine. That is often the case. However, in corporations managed for the future, the overall culture carries the brand and is not as reliant on one leader.

As a leader your reputation is shaped by how well you build trust by:
  • Being believable
  • Communicating a clear vision to all stakeholders
  • Executing on this vision
  • Attracting, inspiring and retaining high performing people
  • Demanding ethical conduct
  • Caring about customers
  • Understanding the nature of teamwork
  • Showing courage and competency during crisis

  • Warren Buffet says, "Trust is like the air we breathe. When it's present, nobody really notices. But when it's absent, everybody notices."
